Great Chinese Reads

- New Website Launched with the Latest Research Results

We are very excited to announce the release of the Great Chinese Reads Recommended Chinese Reading List. This reading list has been developed by our research team, with the help of scholars from Stanford University, Beijing Normal University and Chinese teachers in 20+ public and independent schools across the country.

Check out our new website www.greatchinesereads.org that includes a searchable database of the initial 50 recommended picture books for K-6 students. It‘s a FREE tool to help parents and educators find the best suitable books for your children!

Presenting at 2017 National Chinese Language Conference

We are proud to announce that Great Chinese Reads research team has been selected to present at the 2017 National Chinese Language Conference co-hosted by the College Board and the Asia Society. We will discuss our research approach and book recommendations, and officially release the reading list and the new website during the conference.

BookKnock - Community Outreach Programs

Since the launch of BookKnock in 2015, we have now served more than 30 sites across the country including schools, libraries and communities. Most recently, we co-hosted a Chinese New Year themed story time in the Bay Area, together with iChineseReader, with 400+ parents and children attending the event.

2016 Annual Fundraising Results

During the 2016 annual fundraising, we have raised a total of $4,588 with the generous support of 35 donors around the world. Your contribution was doubled with matching funds from Eirya Foundation founders.

In 2017, we will continue serving the community with more in-depth research, expand the reading list and offer more mini-grants to young readers, schools and communities. Our mission is to enrich Chinese reading with great books and to nurture lifelong readers with bilingual literacy.
